A Quiet Night of Chaos was the first performance-art show produced, curated, and performed by cARTel. Director Negin Singh and her co-curator picked 12 artists of all different mediums and created a show made up of single performances that all served the same theme: self reflection vs. self destruction. We created two shows, one that was set on the campus of UC Irvine, and one at UCLA. The UC Irvine show took the audiences on an insane "midnight tour" of sorts on the campus, where the audience followed a cryptic tour guide through the campus, stopping in various destinations to witness a piece of performance art. The UCLA show followed a more conventional performance art format (if there is such a thing), and was held at Macgowan Hall. Every single piece of this show came from the artists themselves; it was a collaboration in every sense of the word. Both shows were sold out, which indicated to us that there was a palpable need of this kind of out-of-the-box art in our communities.
