The inaugural edition of Sound/Stage, Session 1: Unplugged in the Amazon, was presented on March 14, 2012. Channeling the artistry and glamour of Old Hollywood, cARTel invited 100 special guests to this black-tie event at the historic El Cid on Sunset Boulevard. Many local patrons of and contributors to the arts were in attendance, as well as friends of cARTel both old and new, and guests enjoyed El Cid's specialty cocktails and signature tapas menu.
After an hour of red carpet photos and mingling on the beautiful outdoor patio, guests moved inside to enjoy Kit Steinkellner's original piece, Unplugged in the Amazon, starring Lisa Bierman, Jack De Sena, Shishir Kurup and the musical stylings of DAKABOOM. A special dessert prepared by Vijay's Cheesecakes followed the performance. The drinks and conversation continued well into the night on this truly memorable occasion.
"Session 2" of Sound/Stage returns to El Cid in late May, and is sure to include more special performers and guests.
Thanks to the amazing work of sound-recording genius Michael Cooper, cARTel is able to offer an audio recording of the entire event, including the reading itself and the introduction and post-script speeches of event producer Dan Halden and artistic director Negin Singh.
We're offering these recordings on a pay what you can basis. Your donation will help make future events like this possible, so click below to donate through Paypal. Thanks!
